main() in java card applet

I am studying webcard material(see the attachment). And I saw the main() function in the java card applet.
Why is the main() function in the java card applet ?
I have never saw this in other applets. How strange it is.

Maybe it it generated with java editor of no-javacard java?
sense and simplicity
